“I bought this T-shirt at a Unison stall at Pride; on the back it says “Lesbians and gay men in Unison”. They were one of the first trade unions to support the LGBT+ community. In this photograph I am wearing it at Pride in Manchester in 2000, when Section 28 was still in operation and homosexuality was not allowed to be discussed in schools. I had recently come out in my mid-20s, and I was at the march with my first girlfriend so I was feeling very proud that day”.
