In April 1983 Margaret Thatcher was invited to speak at the annual Cutler’s Feast in Sheffield. Her invitation caused some upset amongst locals due to the unrest of the decade and her unpopularity. An ‘unwelcoming committee’ was formed and on the night approximately 5000 people turned up to protest.
