A simple green border decorates the edge of Jane Holiday's sampler, embroidered in 1825. The top half of the sampler is embroidered with rows of alphabets and numerals. Each line is seperated by a decorative border, a style typical of nineteenth-century samplers. In the lower half of the sampler Jane has embroidered the words 'Jane Holiday's/Work in the 50 year/of her age -1825'. Carefully embroidered flowers, including bluebells, have also been used to decorate the sampler.
