This painting shows a view of Sheffield from Psalter Lane looking down the hill towards the town. The artist and date of the work are unknown but the lack of urban buildings and factory chimneys suggest that it depicts Sheffield in the early to mid-1800s. The church spires of St Peter, St George, St Paul and St Philip are discernible in the centre mid-ground of the picture. St Philip's Church, built in 1828, is the most recent.
