This blazer was worn by Miss May Wilkins, who studied for a diploma in education at Sheffield University between 1930 and 1933. She met her future husband Leslie while studying. The University of Sheffield was formally created in 1905 by Royal Charter. It was created from the Sheffield School of Medicine, Firth College and the Sheffield Technical School, which had been linked together as the University College of Sheffield since 1897.
