This toy aeroplane was made by Fred Ellis, who served with the Royal Flying Corps (later the Royal Air Force) at the No. 2 (Northern) Aircraft Repair Depot near Coal Aston and Norton. Both men and women lived and worked there repairing damaged aeroplanes. Fred used spare parts from the aircraft scrap store, including pulley wheels, to make this toy plane for his daughter Eileen.
