During the Second World War there was a Prisoner of War Camp at High Green in Sheffield. The camp held mainly Italian prisoners, who were considered to be a lower escape risk than Germans. American airmen were also billeted there for a short time. This embroidery originally belonged to Mrs Daisy Jackson- Moore. It was made by an Italian prisoner of war, and was either given as a gift or exchanged for goods in her shop in Chapeltown.
