This money box was issued by the Yorkshire Penny Bank in Attercliffe. It was used by Mrs Kay in the 1930s, when she was working in service in Hathersage. The first Yorkshire Penny Bank branches were opened in the 1860s. They were originally a savings bank, allowing people with low incomes the chance to save small amounts of money regularly.
