This postcard shows cottages on Union Road, near Machon Bank Road. The area was known as Cherry Tree Common. This was originally a rural area with farms and small hamlets nearby. After the Enclosures Act in 1870, the area was slowly defined by field boundaries and new houses were built to create a residential suburb. These cottages have since been demolished.
